Yavapai County Supervisor Jack R. Smith would like thank all those that attended the Dedication of the new Walker Road Bridge over Lynx Creek on April 18, 2016.
Supervisor Smith stated “This was an awesome win for Yavapai County residents. Our Public Works Director Byron Jaspers saw an opportunity for a federal grant to replace the existing Bridge; with Board approval to move forward Byron applied for and was awarded the grant for this project. The new bridge was largely funded by the Federal Lands Access Program and was a cooperative project by the US Forest Service, US Department of Transportation and Yavapai County. The Bridge project has a total cost of approximately $2 million dollars and with our Public Works Department, grant writers and the Board working together to obtain this grant we were able to save Yavapai County tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars on a bridge that will stand the test of time for years to come.”
Supervisor Smith also shared his gratitude to the residents of Walker for attending the dedication and enduring the construction.
The new Lynx Creek Bridge will ensure the safety of access for the traveling public as well as heavy construction and emergency equipment.
