Friday, October 13, 2017: Early Morning Accident Seriously Injures 19 year old woman

On Friday October 13, 2017 at approximately 5:52 AM Prescott Police Officers responded to the intersection of Whipple Street and Ruth Street in reference to an injury accident involving a pedestrian and a passenger car.

Officers ultimately learned that Abigail Pescatore, a 19 year old Prescott woman, was crossing Whipple Street at Ruth Street. Audra Moreno, a 39 year old woman from Paulden, driving a 2006 sedan, was also on Whipple Street, traveling westbound, and struck the pedestrian. Based upon evidence gathered at the scene, it appears that Pescatore was not in the dedicated crosswalk at the time of the accident.

Unfortunately, Pescatore sustained major injuries and was transported to YRMC and later flown to a Phoenix area hospital. At this time her current condition is unknown.

The intersection was closed while emergency personnel could render aid and members of the Prescott Police Traffic Safety Section could properly investigate the collision. The roadway was reopened at approximately 10:00 AM

Members of the Prescott Police Department Traffic Safety Section will continue their investigation and will study the scene and the evidence to determine the cause and contributing factors of the collision. The Prescott PD is actively pursuing witness and asks for anyone with information about this accident to call LPO Matt Medina at 928-777-1999.
