Four years ago, on the night before Election Day, Senator John McCain, candidate for President, showed up at the Yavapai County Courthouse in Prescott, Arizona. It was close to midnight when he and his entourage finally arrived - only to find a crowd of about 10,000 waiting to hear the potentially next President of the United States speak.
Well, now it's 2012, not 2008, and McCain is not the presidential candidate. But, that's ok, because McCain is always welcome in Prescott, Arizona, whether he's running for President or not. Military vets hold him in the highest of esteem for the leadership and the sacrifices he made to help others as a POW and since. And when he speaks to fellow Republicans, he finds plenty of fans in the audience.
Next Monday, the night before Election Tuesday, there will once again be a "Get Out the Vote" Victory Rally on the Courthouse steps. And yes, Senator John McCain will be there, along with Representative Jeff Flake (who is also a candidate for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Jon Kyl); Arizona Speaker of the House Andy Tobin; Arizona Senate President Steve Pierce; US Congressman Paul Gosar and Arizona Representative Karen Fann.
Temperatures are sure to be chilly once the sun goes down, so wear warm clothes and bring lawn blankets and chairs for this final election event.
