Non-profit Specializing in Youth Mentorship and Healthy Masculinity Organizes Awareness Conference Prescott, AZ -- Boys to Men Mentoring Network has teamed up with The Launch Pad Teen Center to host the 2018 Prescott Sexual Violence Awareness Conference (PSVA Conference) on November 10th at the Prescott Adult Center on Rosser. The PSVA Conference will connect individuals, organizations, and the Prescott Community against the public health crisis of sexual and gender based violence. The intention is to create a fabric of support between agencies doing the work, survivors of sexual violence, and members from all parts of the community.

According to the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS), in the United States, nearly 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men have been raped in their lifetime. One in 2 women and 1 in 5 men has experienced severe sexual violence victimization other than rape at some point in their lives. Despite these harrowing statistics, there remains a strong vision of hope for survivors of sexual violence. Many organizations in the Quad Cities do the work of supporting survivors, but it’s impossible to do the work alone. To end sexual violence, it will take intervention on all levels of community. The Prescott Sexual Violence Awareness Conference will offer an opportunity for all community members to be engaged - among our attendees and workshop hosts are the Yavapai County Community Health Services, the Greater Yavapai Community Coalition, and Prevent Child Abuse Arizona. CEU’s will be available for attendance at a number of workshop sessions.

“Boys to Men is committed to being part of the solution. We and our volunteer mentors are so excited to become empowered and educated advocates for safe dating and assault prevention.” Shared Charles Matheus, the Executive Director of Boys to Men Mentoring. Chair of the Men’s Engagement Committee of the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual Violence Jamal shared: “Justice and equity are the destinations we set towards every day. I believe this can be done by addressing root causes, transforming hearts and minds, and changing social norms. I am honored to speak at the PSVA Conference, sharing experience, hope, and strength in pursuit of connection.”
