New High School Principal Search is One Step Closer to a Decision

Principal candidate Meet & Greet!

Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) is currently conducting a search for a new principal to lead Chino Valley High School starting the 2017/2018 school year. The current principal, Mr. Wes Brownfield, will be retiring at the end of this current school year.

The District advertised the principal position nationwide and received 15 applications. There were 2 internal candidates, 4 additional candidates from within Yavapai County, 4 additional candidates from Arizona, and 5 candidates from outside of Arizona. A screening committee has narrowed the field of candidates down to four and interviews of these candidates will take place on Tuesday, March 21st.

The candidates are:

Mr. Kevin Gettings, Assistant Principal, Kofa High School, Yuma, Arizona

Dr. Lisa Hirsch, Principal, Sedona Charter School, Sedona, Arizona

Mr. Brian Pereira, Student Services Director, Ash Fork Joint Unified School District, Ash Fork, Arizona

Ms. Heidi Wolf, Assistant Principal, Chino Valley High School, Chino Valley, Arizona

Mr. John Scholl, the CVUSD superintendent, would like to invite all community members to a Principal Candidate Meet and Greet that will take place on the evening of Tuesday, March 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Chino Valley High School east gym. This will give community members an opportunity to meet the candidates and provide written comments for review during the selection process.

Mr. Scholl will recommended a candidate for approval to the CVUSD Governing Board at their April 4, 2017 regular meeting. The new principal will begin no later than July 1, 2017.
