Prescott to Host Cyber Security Symposium at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University September 16

PRESCOTT, AZ (September 7, 2017) – The City of Prescott and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), will host a Cyber Symposium on Saturday, September 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the university’s new STEM Education Center. The cost for attending is free and is paid for by the sponsoring organizations.

The symposium will discuss cyber security awareness for education and industry, plus innovative new technologies and trends. This symposium will benefit state and local government, higher education, manufacturing, retail, aerospace, technology and finance.

Attendees will also have the chance to tour the STEM building, which includes state of the art lab space, lecture halls, and the planetarium.

“This is the first of what the City hopes to be many similar programs over the coming years,” said City Manager Michael Lamar. “The goal is to invite decision-makers to Prescott for meaningful programming, and to introduce them to what the city has to offer in lifestyle, education and business opportunities.”

“Embry-Riddle, and our College of Security and Intelligence is proud to host this gathering of Cyber Security leaders from across the state and region in our new STEM Education Center,” said Chancellor Dr. Frank Ayers. “Our focus on the high-tech and the related STEM fields is a great match for this outstanding group of practitioners, scholars, and leaders.”

Local sponsoring organizations include: The City of Prescott, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Ron James, Chamberlain Development Company, Yavapai College, Hassayampa Inn, Terra Verde, Fortinet, and HOSTING.

Supporting organizations include Arizona State University, Arizona Cyber Threat Response Alliance, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation, Arizona Cyber Awareness Consortium and Maricopa Community Colleges.
