(Aug. 26, 2014 – Prescott, AZ) The public is invited to the Mosaic Magic Garden Party on Sunday, September 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Yavapai College Sculpture Garden’s patio, next to the Performing Arts Center in Prescott. The Yavapai College Foundation’s auxiliary organization, Friends of Yavapai College Art, hosts the event.

The Mosaic Magic Garden Party will raise funds for student art scholarships and Sculpture Garden acquisitions by selling tickets for $25. Each ticket includes a 6”x6” original piece of artwork and a reservation to the wine and hors d’oeuvres Garden Party.

More than 200 works of art, created by local amateur and professional artists, have been donated to the College for the event. Ray Waguespack, a Prescott photographer, donated two of his images.

“I did this because I liked the idea of the fundraising program,” said Waguespack. “Since I do a lot of digital photography, I felt that I could print a photo on canvas, which I did. In some ways it was an experiment for me, and I was very pleased with the way it turned out. We hope this program will be successful for Friends and raises money for art scholarships here at Yavapai College.”

At Yavapai College, 65% of students receive some form of financial aid. Kathryn Lane, a recipient of the Friends of Yavapai College Art scholarship, wrote in a thank-you note to that organization, “There are no words of the way I feel at this moment. You have given me a wonderful, amazing gift. I now know I have a talent. I just need to continue developing it and with the help of the Art Department’s faculty, I will.”

Purchase tickets online at www.yc.edu/ycf, or at any of the following local businesses: The Frame & I, Jay’s Bird Barn, Miller Valley Indoor Art Market, Prescott Valley Nursery and Mortimer Nursery & Landscape Co.
