Yavapai College is hosting the 3rd annual Exploring Majors Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 in Building 19 at the YC Prescott campus.
The fair is beneficial for anyone contemplating investing in a college education or career training, as well as for current Yavapai College students who are undecided on a course of study. YC faculty members representing 32 academic departments and career programs will be on hand at the fair to share information about their respective fields.
According to Paula Fuhst, YC academic and career advisor, choosing a career path is key to student success and talking face-to-face with a faculty member can aid the decision-making process. “The Exploring Majors Fair is a great opportunity to meet faculty and ask questions about classes and career options in an informal setting,” Fuhst said. “Our hope is that when people come out of that room, they can say to themselves, ‘I know what I’m going to do now.’”
Choosing a major or a career direction saves money, time and can help students schedule classes efficiently, Fuhst added. Spring semester registration for continuing and degree-seeking students begins Oct. 24. Open registration begins Oct. 31.
