PRESCOTT, AZ—Michelle Melchiorre, a member of Organizing for America and Deputy Community Outreach Director of Arizona List, will discuss the Affordable Care Act at the luncheon meeting of the Democratic Women of the Prescott Area, (DWPA) on March 21 at 11 a.m. at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 4499 E. State Route 69 in Prescott at Old Black Canyon Road.
Melchiorre will review the benefits of the health care law and its implementation. An active member of Organizing for America, the campaign to re-elect President Obama, Melchiorre became passionate about health care issues after family crises. She joined the fight for each American to have access to quality health care as a community organizer and advocate, coordinating phone banks, door-knocking canvasses, letter-writing campaigns and rallies.
Previously, she had volunteered at Maricopa Medical Center, where she completed the Spanish Bilingual Assistance Program, later winning her the Presidential Service Award. Melchiorre has hosted national webinars on the law’s benefits, which include coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, banning lifetime limits, free preventive care and coverage of children up to age 26.
A Chicago native, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from ASU. The Fountain Hills resident has two college-age children.
The public is welcome. Reservations required by March 16. Cost is $13. Call Joan Cornell at 778-1219 for reservations or more information.
