Multiple Arrests Made for Animal Abuse

On 05/06/2019 Chino Valley Animal Control and Chino Valley Police Officers responded to the 600 block of N. Road 1 West for a report of two puppies being kept in a small cage.

Two six month old, black and white colored, female puppies were discovered living in a 4x4 kennel. The area was covered in trash and the kennel was covered in feces. It was determined the puppies did not have access to water or proper shelter. The puppies were examined and it appeared the collars they were wearing had not been adjusted as they had grown. Both dog’s collars were embedded in their necks and raw flesh was exposed. Chino Valley Animal Control took possession of the puppies and transported them to Chino Valley Animal Hospital.

39 year old Penny Graydon of Chino Valley was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of animal neglect, animal abuse and animal mistreatment. 21 year old Joel Graydon of Chino Valley was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of animal neglect, animal abuse and animal mistreatment.

Chino Valley Animal Shelter has named these puppies Riyah and Samira. They are currently being treated for their injuries at Chino Valley Animal Hospital. They are going to require extensive treatment. Chino Valley Animal Shelter is asking for the community’s help in treating these puppies. If you would like to help with treatment you can donate directly to the Chino Valley Animal Hospital under the shelters account for Riyah and Samira. You can also stop by the Chino Valley Animal Shelter and donate in-person or call them at 928-636-4223 ext. 7. We would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
