Update, 4:11 PM: This is a Go message from the Sheriff's Office. There is a wildfire threatening. A mandatory evacuation has been issued for resident's located in Pine Flats. Cellar Fire – July 18, 2019 Morning Update: 11:35

Start Date: July 18, 2019

Cause: Lightning

Origin Location: 16 Miles South of Prescott, AZ

Jurisdiction: Prescott National Forest

Fuels: Upper elevation: Ponderosa pine. Lower elevation: Brush, Grass and Chaparral

Resources: 7 Airtankers, 4 Helicopters, 7 Hot Shot Crews, 6 Type 2 IA Crews, 2 Dozers, and 18 Engines

The Southwest Area Type 1 Incident Management Team #1 assumed command of the Cellar Fire this morning at 6am. Additional firefighters are arriving as well.

A Cellar Fire Community Meeting will be held tonight, July 18, at 6pm at Glassford Hill Middle School, 9601 E. Panther Path, Prescott Valley, AZ. American Sign Language (ASL) and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) services will be provided. We plan to livestream the meeting on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/PrescottNF/ and the recording will be posted after the meeting is over. If we are unable to livestream or lose the connection, we will record the meeting and post highlights afterwards. No Facebook account is required to view the video.

Firefighters are actively engaged in fully suppressing the fire where they can do so safely and effectively. This includes protecting values at risk including private property and infrastructure in and around Pine Flats, Potato Patch, Wolf Creek, Groom Creek, Indian Creek Walker, and Crown King.

Hot, dry weather is expected to continue. Firefighters are prepared to respond to the potential for fire movement and initial attack as needed. Firefighters are improving and holding the anchor point on the southwest flank of the fire. Airtankers are dropping retardant to support hotshot crews on the ground in holding and securing the west flank of the fire. Firefighters are assessing structure protection needs and will be implementing structure protection as needed.

There are NO evacuations currently in effect. As a precaution, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Code Red ‘SET’ for the community of Pine Flat; and a Code Red ‘READY’ for the communities of Walker, Groom Creek, Wolf Creek, Potato Patch, Indian Creek and Crown King. A Prescott National Forest Cellar Fire Closure Order went into effect this morning. It includes everything south of Wolf Creek including Potato Patch, south to the community of Crown King.
