U.S. SENATE – Today, U.S. Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ) announced that she helped secure $90 million in federal funding for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to expand a rural, mountainous stretch of I-17 north of Phoenix.
“Stretching from Phoenix to Flagstaff, I-17 moves tens of thousands of people each day,” said McSally. “With our growing economy and expanding population it is essential that Arizona continues to serve our communities on safe and well-maintained roads. This is exciting news for Arizona as this grant will move us closer to that goal.”
McSally discussed the grant with Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao in a phone call earlier today.
On February 28, McSally sent a letter to the Department of Transportation in support of ADOT’s application noting that this project is “necessary and important for our state.”
