Summa Totius Returns to the Elks Theater

25 July 2019
A blend of Latin and Flaminco music comes to the Elks.
This Saturday marks the return to the Elks Theater of one of Prescott’s longest running and most musically accomplished local bands. Summa Totius, which specializes in a blend of Latin and Flaminco music with an infusion of jazz, blues, and rock, will bring their unique sound to the stage of the Elks Theater, Saturday night at 7pm.

The founders of the band, Drew Hall and Anton Teschner, have been playing together since 1999, blending their individual styles into one new sound with their acoustic duo which has become a staple of the Prescott music scene since 2004.

In 2017, the duo decided to take their music to new level with the addition of two new members, first with drummer Gigi Gonaway, who has recorded and performed with such notable artists and Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and James Taylor, and for 14 years was the drummer for Mariah Carey. Also joining this gifted crew is Emmy Award winning bassist, Mahlon Hawk, who has performed with such headliners as Steely Dan and the Cars.

As all good Latin scholars will know, Summa Totius means “sum of all parts”. The name was chosen to reflect the sense of fusion the band achieves in blending instruments, genres, and individual musical influences into an original and unified whole. Music fans looking for an interesting evening of unique entertainment from one of Prescott’s top home grown bands will be rewarded. Tickets are available at www.prescottelkstheater.com.
