In an era of impersonal, online job-hunting and hiring, a coalition of community partners is hosting job and career fairs countywide to bring job seekers and employers face to face. The first in a series of such fairs is happening from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Chino Valley High School, 760 E. Center St.
Representatives of more than 50 area business looking to fill 570 positions will be on hand at the fair to provide information about available jobs and career opportunities. The first 30-minutes of the fair is reserved for veterans, seniors ages 55 and older and persons with disabilities. At 11 a.m., the doors open to everyone free of charge.
The Yavapai College Regional Economic Development Center is presenting the job fair in partnership with the Chino Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona, Arizona@Work, the Northern Arizona Council of Governments and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Fair sponsors this year include Fann Contracting, Assisteo Home Health, ResCare HomeCare and the Chino Valley Unified School District.
Ahead of the job fair, Arizona@Work is presenting a preparation class for job seekers who could use help with resume writing, interviewing and other job-search skills. The class is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the Chino Valley Library, 1020 W. Palomino Road. For information about the class, call 928-759-1669, or visit arizonaatwork.com/Yavapai.
