UPDATE, Monday at 12:13 PM A note sent to PHS parents -
On Saturday morning, there was a car accident involving three Prescott High School students. Two of the students were injured but have been released from the hospital and are home with their families. Unfortunately one student was killed in the accident. Austin (AJ) Faulkner was a senior at Prescott High School.
Today at school we had counselors available to talk with students and staff in regards to this tragedy. This service will continue for as long as needed. Please keep in mind the students’ reactions to a tragedy such as this are varied. If you feel your child is in need of utilizing the school’s services please feel free to contact the school at (928) 445-2322.
An honor flag ceremony will be scheduled for next week and will be announced to students over the next couple of days. It is the school’s understanding that this will be the only memorial service available for students to attend. Honor flag ceremonies are generally conducted prior to the start of school around 7:30am.

The following is a summary of the Arizo.na Dept. of Public Safety (DPS) report from yesterday’s fatal accident in Paulden:
A collision between a pickup truck and motorcycle near the intersection of SR 89 and Sweet Valley Dr in Paulden at 11:01 am Saturday, resulted in two fatalities and two injuries.
The accident occurred when the truck, a 1998 Ford, crossed the highway west to east from Sweet Valley Rd and was struck by a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling north being ridden by Nicholas Russell Yekin, 53, from Goodyear, AZ.
Yekin, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck, which overturned in the accident, was being driven by a 17 year old male from Paulden who sustained injuries and was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center by Native Air. Also injured in the collision was another passenger in the truck, a 15 year old male from Prescott, who was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
According to the DPS report, neither injured passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
A third passenger in the truck, Austin John Faulkner, 18, from Paulden, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The report stated that Faulkner was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
