Man Accidentally Shoots Himself at McDonald's in Prescott Valley

Accidental Shooting Injures Man at Prescott Valley McDonalds 

On Monday, December 22, 2014 at about 9:00 AM, Prescott Valley Police responded to the Prescott Valley McDonalds Restaurant at the intersection of S.R. 69 and Lake Valley Road reference a 60 year old Cottonwood man who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound from his own handgun. 

The man told police he went to use the bathroom and his Cobra .32 caliber handgun fell out of his pocket onto the floor and fired one round into his leg.  Police found that the semi-automatic pistol was in a light, nylon holster when it discharged the bullet through the holster, his left calf, and right thigh.  The bullet was recovered on the bathroom floor and there were no bystanders in the area.  The man was treated on scene by Central Yavapai Fire Department and transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  The McDonalds restaurant remained opened throughout the incident.  

The case is being reviewed by investigators. The Prescott Valley Police would like to remind the public to be very careful when carrying and handling firearms.
