On 12/27/14, Prescott Valley Police Officers arrested 18 year old Chino Valley resident Justin Sandy after receiving numerous calls of vehicle burglaries that occurred early in the morning on 12/26/14. During one of the investigations into a vehicle burglary, officers determined that a credit card stolen from the vehicle had been used at a local convenience store later that day. The officer made contact with store personnel and reviewed surveillance footage. The footage enabled them to identify a vehicle and also obtain a photo of the suspect connected to the use of the stolen card. Follow-up investigation revealed that the vehicle had been impounded by the Chino Valley Police Department a short time earlier after the driver was involved in a hit and run accident and then fled from their officers. PVPD Officers and Detectives made contact with the owner of the suspect vehicle who identified Justin Sandy as having been operating the vehicle during the times that the burglaries occurred.
When the officers conducted a search of the suspect vehicle, they located several items connected to other burglaries in the Granville area. Chino Valley Officers had taken Sandy into custody on their case and turned him over to our officers for our investigation. During interviews with Sandy, he denied any knowledge or involvement in the burglaries.
Sandy was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple charges of Burglary as well as Theft and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
