PHOENIX — Governor Doug Ducey announced today the appointment of former House Speaker Andy Tobin as the new director of the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures.
Mr. Tobin was first elected to the Arizona State House of Representatives in 2006. He was re-elected in 2008, 2010 and 2012, and served as majority whip, majority leader and most recently as Speaker of the House. Mr. Tobin also brings extensive experience in the private sector, including in the banking, insurance and aerospace industries. He is the former national president of the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, and understands the intersection between government and business — a key function of this agency.
"I'm pleased to announce Andy Tobin will serve as director of the Department of Weights and Measures," said Governor Ducey. "Andy brings a high degree of leadership and a wealth of knowledge about Arizona public policy and its relationship with our small businesses. He is an excellent public servant and will be a great asset to the department and our administration."
"I'm honored to join Governor Ducey's team," Tobin said. "Governor Ducey's reform-minded vision to streamline and modernize state government is good for Arizona families and small business and I can't wait to get to work."
