Memorial Day Message from Rep. Paul Gosar

30 May 2016   Rep. Paul Gosar
Honoring Those Who Have Died While Serving in the Armed Forces

On this Memorial Day, I am thinking of our brave men and women in uniform. America's service members are the nation’s greatest asset. Many have risked their comforts, families and even their lives in order to provide freedom for others. Nothing is more selfless.

Memorial Day is specifically for honoring those who have died while serving in the Armed Forces. So let us recommit ourselves to ensuring no American forgets the true cost of freedom. Remember: we will always remain the land of the free, only because this is the home of the brave.

On Memorial Day, there are many words spoken and speeches given honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live free. But more important than words, are names.

We must remember their names because behind every name is a story. A father, a son, a daughter, a friend, a patriot. Copied below are the names of Arizonans from cities in the 4th district who died in the Vietnam War. You can learn more about these great Arizonans by clicking HERE.

Every single name of every fallen soldier, carries with it the spirit of all Americans who have come before us, and the millions more yet to be born.

And now it is our turn to take up their fight. Their voice must now be our voice. I would encourage you all to get involved in worthwhile efforts that support our nation's heroes.

Engage your American spirit and let’s reach out to those who have served. Offer them a hand up and thank them for their service. Let them know America is great because of them.

And let us recommit ourselves to ensuring no American forgets the true cost of freedom.
