Yavapai County Recorder, Ana Wayman-Trujillo would like remind property owners to be careful of potential scams when it comes to letters from outside vendors instructing property owners to purchase certified copies of their property deeds.
Property owners within several counties in Arizona have received letters soliciting a certified copy of their property deeds for fees from $59. to as high $159.
Although Wayman-Trujillo has not been able to identify the validity of the company involved in this potential scam, she wants to remind property owners that certified copies of all Yavapai County Recorded documents can be obtained from her office at 1015 Fair St. or the Cottonwood office at 10 South 6th St. for a nominal fee of $1.00 per page (deeds are usually a two or three page document) plus $3.00 for the certification and an additional $1.00 for return postage.
Wayman-Trujillo would also like to remind all Yavapai County constituents that they should never give out any personal information or purchase any item being solicited through the mail without first verifying that the company is a legitimate company.
