Prescott Jazz Summit

The Prescott Jazz Summit will be Howlin’ at the Highlands this weekend.  As part of the Summer Concert Series, the Summit All-Stars will perform with featured vocalist Dennis Rowland at the Highlands Center for Natural History on Walker Road.  Rowland, a Phoenix resident was the voice of the world renowned Count Basie Orchestra between 1977 and 1984, where he shared the stage with Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Joe Williams and Tony Bennett.  The concert starts at 7 pm and ticket information is available at prescottjazz.com.   

Prescott Film Festival

There will be plenty of movies to watch as part of this year’s Prescott Film Festival.  More than 50 films will be screened as part of the 9th annual Festival, which starts today at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center.  During a recent live appearance on Q&A on KQNA 1130 AM and 95.5 and 99.9 FM, Event Director Helen Stephenson explained there will also be 8 workshops. A Wines to Die For wine tasting event will be held this Sunday at 5:30.  Stephenson says it will include an analysis of the shower scene in the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock classic movie “Psycho”. “Psycho” will be shown for free at 9 Sunday night in Yavapai College’s Outdoor Pavilion.  The Prescott Film Festival runs through June 16th.  For more information, visit prescottfilmfestival.com.
