Congressman Paul Gosar has recognized a Cottonwood Police Department Detective for his commitment to serving the community.
Gosar was at the Police Department facility Monday morning for his annual law enforcement recognition, which included Detective Scott Dever. Cottonwood Police officials say Congressman Gosar’s effort to celebrate Dever’s contributions are especially heartfelt given the caustic political climate officers have endured across the country over recent years. During the Congressional races, Gosar is using that time as an opportunity to recognize law enforcement officers throughout his District. Dever is a Team Leader for the Verde Valley Regional SWAT team.
A body found in Montana is that of a Prescott lawyer.
The body was found by hikers on July 20th near the Gates of Mountain Wilderness area, located about 20 miles from the City of Helena. Yesterday Lewis and Clark County coroner Bryan Backeberg identified the man as 61 year old David Kell, who called Prescott home for more than 25 years. Kell attended Yavapai College, where he earned an Associates’ Degree, graduating with Honors. He completed undergraduate studies and law school at the University of Arizona. Before going into private practice, Kell was a prosecutor with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office. According to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton, the body was badly decomposed and may have been in the area for up to a week. The cause of death is under investigation but homicide isn’t suspected at this time.
