Community Cleanup in Seligman
Yavapai County residents will have plenty of opportunities to get rid of unwanted items next month. The County Board of Supervisors and the Public Works Department have scheduled a Community Cleanup in the town of Seligman, located 77 miles from Prescott. The cleanup, which is free to all Yavapai County residents, will be held at the Seligman Transfer Station on Landfill Road from 8 am to 4 pm. Dump days are September 12th, 15th, 19th and 22nd. Items that will be accepted include household appliances, bagged trash, auto batteries, unmounted tires, furniture and yard trimmings. Items that won’t be accepted include commercial loads, loose trash, liquids, hazardous materials and cars. Yavapai County officials are reminding residents wildfires are never out of season, so it’s a good time to create defensible space around your home by removing all debris and dead vegetation from roofs, decks and the ground around your property.

Closures on Sunset Lane
Closures are in effect on Sunset Lane now through September 5th due to utility relocation work. A portion of Sunset from Prescott East Highway to Pine View Drive is being improved. Prescott Valley Public Works Director Norm Davis describes what’s being done in advance of these improvements. Councilwoman Mary Mallory says construction will complicate things for drivers. Lyon Engineering completed final project plans back in May for roadway widening, new sidewalk and storm drain, as well as water and sewer improvements. Work hours for the utility relocations are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
