Mobile food truck vendors could be facing regulations in Prescott.
State Statutes restrict and limit the City’s ability to prohibit or ban the operation of mobile food vendors. However, the City has some authority to adopt reasonable regulations for this operation. Under a draft ordinance that will be discussed by City Council at 1 tomorrow afternoon, all operators would be required to get City business licenses, Yavapai County health inspection permits and food handler cards. All mobile food trucks would have to comply with fire and safety codes and show proof of inspections by the Fire Department. There are other regulations for operations on private property, City right of way and City owned property that’s not in the right of way. The Council meeting will be held at City Hall on South Cortez Street.
