Bill's Newscast: Gosar Mocked by SNL

04 March 2019
Representative Gosar hits the ‘big time’.

Saturday Night Live pokes fun at Representative Paul Gosar.

If you watched “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, you may have noticed a familiar face being parodied.  Following Paul Gosar’s questioning of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen last Wednesday, “Saturday Night Live” poked fun at the Prescott Congressman.  Cast member Kyle Mooney portrayed Gosar as so angry he could only mangle words. The skit also made fun of Gosar scolding Cohen with the childhood phrase “liar, liar, pants on fire”. The skit even recreated the poster Gosar had created with Cohen’s picture and the liar phrase on it.

Dewey-Humboldt to discuss Town Manager and Presiding Magistrate positions

The Dewey-Humboldt Town Council will hold special meetings this week to discuss 2 key positions.  At 1 this afternoon, Council will meet in a session that’s closed to the public to talk about the interview of applicants for the Town Manager position, which has been vacant since December.  After that meeting, Council could direct staff regarding the appointment process, terms of employment and preparation of a contract.  Council will go further into that process at 6:30 tomorrow night. The finalists for the Town Presiding Magistrate position, including Edwin Buckley, Douglas Lasota, Paul Schleigel and Douglas Suits will also be discussed.  These finalists were the subject of a meeting on February 18th.  A decision could be made on a new Magistrate and a Town Manager appointment.  Both Council meetings will be held at Town Hall on Highway 69.

Info on May election in Chino Valley

Chino Valley residents can learn about the measures that will be on the May 21st ballot.  The town is holding a special election to ask voters to decide on 2 items.  The first is establishment of a property tax totaling one and a half million dollars to fund a road construction and maintenance program within the Town.  The second item involves the purchase of any of the 4 water systems located within 5 miles from Town limits.  Those companies include Wilhoit, Appaloosa, Chino Meadows 2 and the City of Prescott water system.    Town officials will host an informational meeting on both ballot items at 5:30 tonight in the Community Center on Road 1 East.
