Chino Valley’s newest roundabout will see a traffic shift
The roundabout on Highway 89 at Perkinsville Road in Chino Valley is starting to take shape. Over the past few months, ADOT crews have been constructing the roundabout. Weather permitting, crews will switch traffic over to the east side of the roundabout this Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. The traffic shift is scheduled to be in place for the next 4 weeks. Drivers who need to get to Perkinsville Road off Highway 89 will need to use the detour as the road will be closed to through traffic. The west side of Perkinsville Road will be open on weekends and holidays but closed during the Monday through Friday work hours. In addition to the new roundabout, this 1 and a half million dollar project includes removal and replacement of the existing pavement, drainage improvements, new pavement markings and lighting. This project is scheduled to be completed in September.
Carving hearts in Sedona rocks is strictly forbidden
Actress Vanessa Hudgens has 2 options after she allegedly carved a heart into red rock in Sedona 2 months ago. Authorities say Hudgens can either pay a fine and restitution or appear in court. Hudgens posted a picture of the carving, which bears her name and the name of her boyfriend Austin Butler on Instagram around Valentine’s Day. Damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service land is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a maximum 5 thousand dollar fine. On Tuesday, Coconino National Forest officials said they contacted the “Grease Live” actress, who was cooperative in providing the specific location of the carving. Officials have referred the investigation results to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Flagstaff, which has set a potential hearing date.
