Roughrider Soccer Season Comes to Abrupt End

The Yavapai College Soccer team lost to Phoenix College, 0-3.

The Roughrider soccer team’s 2016 season came to an abrupt end with a 3-0 defeat to Phoenix College in the an NJCAA Region I Playoff match at Ken Lindley Field Thursday night. The ACCAC conference champion Yavapai College finishes the season at 18-3-0 and Phoenix improves to 12-9-1. YC now has a 40-6 Region Playoff record in the storied history.

Yavapai will enter the 2017 season with an overall record of 592-53-27. The Roughriders will be the host of the 2017 NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer National Tournament.

Five Yavapai Soccer Players Named To All-Region Team

Five Yavapai College soccer players were named to the 2016 NJCAA All-Region Team.  Sophomore defenders Jacob Malach (Boise, Idaho) and Juan Ramirez (Aloha, Oregon) were selected to the first team along with freshmen forward Carlo Quesada (Las Vegas, Nevada).  Second team all-region selections included a pair of Roughrider freshmen players from Phoenix, Arizona—midfielder John Scearce and defender John Kanner.  In addition, Yavapai College Head Soccer Coach Michael Pantalione (592-52-27/28th year) was named NJCAA Region Coach of the Year for the 18th time.

Yavapai College captured their 26th conference title in 2016 with an overall regular season record of 18-2-0.
