Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs continued their streak with a 1-0 victory against the Quad City Mallards Saturday night at the iWireless Center. Sundogs collected eight out of eight points on the road and remain undefeated in the New Year, extending their winning streak to four games.
Arizona’s, Ian Schultz broke the stalemate 13:19 into the third period with a tip on Garrett Clarke’s shot. The Sundogs goal game on the power play when Quad City’s goalie Ty Rimmer was assessed a two minute holding minor.
Engelage garnered the win, his third consecutive shutout and his fourth of the season. He is the first netminder in Sundogs franchise history to earn such honors. Overall, Engelage is 12-8-1 in the season, with a 2.53 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Engelage faced 27 shots and denied every one. Arizona outshot Quad City 28-27. The Sundogs were 1-4 on the power play, registering their tenth power play goal in seven games.
The Sundogs return home for a pair of games against the Allen Americans next week, January 17th and 18th at Tim’s Toyota Center.
