PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona Suns announced they have completed a trade for Daxter Miles Jr., who was selected in the first round, 11th overall, in the 2018 NBA G League Draft by the Iowa Wolves today.
The Suns also acquired Iowa’s original second round pick in the 2019 NBA G League Draft. The Wolves receive the returning player rights to Xavier Silas and Roddy Peters.
Miles (6-3, 200 pounds) played the last four years at West Virginia. He averaged 12.9 points on 44.7 percent shooting, 3.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36 games (33 starts) this past year, his senior season. Altogether for the Mountaineers, Miles played 136 games, starting 124 of those, including all 35 games as a true freshman in 2014-15. He averaged 9.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game in his collegiate career.
The 23-year-old was a member of the Sacramento Kings Summer League team this past offseason, where he played three games (one start). He posted 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 14.2 minutes per game for the Kings. He is a Baltimore, Maryland, native.
Silas played with the Northern Arizona Suns the last two seasons. In 2017-18, Silas averaged 18.4 points on 43.8 percent shooting from the field (38.0 percent from distance, 88.2 percent from the free throw line), 4.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 43 games (42 starts). He earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Boston Celtics on March 28, which marked an NBA G League-high fifth call-up for the NAZ Suns last season.
Peters was selected by the NAZ Suns today with the 16th overall pick in the 2018 NBA G League Draft. He played his last two collegiate years at Nicholls State.
